Taking Community Service to the Next Level

The Teen Grantmaking Initiative (TGI) is the only Arab American youth philanthropy program in the country. Launched in 2011, TGI trains teens to give back to their community through philanthropy and community service.

Youth are put in charge of deciding which worthy causes and organizations to support, and grant their time, talent, and treasure to these youth and community-focused programs throughout the year.

TGI is an amazing experience that builds strong leaders and empowers underserved youth to change the world!

TGI Grantmaking

The TGI program generally coincides with the school year calendar. Each TGI chapter decides individually on their grantmaking priorities from year to year, which are based on the results of needs assessments conducted in their local communities. Grants are made to 501(c)3 nonprofits, or to school groups, serving and empowering youth. View current TGI grantmaking opportunities.

Generally TGI chapters release requests for proposals for mini-grants around February, and decide on their grant recipients by May. If you would like to be informed about TGI grantmaking opportunities, please sign up for our newsletter.

It is through my participation in TGI that I came to truly realize a power the otherwise remains dormant – a power with the ability to change, innovate, and love.
