By the 1980s, Dr. Alixa Naff, a pioneering Arab American historian, had developed a personal collection containing more than 2,000 photos, 450 oral histories and 500 artifacts that document the first wave of Arab American immigrants. Currently, however, the majority of the items in the collection are either in “dead formats” or are inaccessible to researchers.
A fund was created at CAAP to support the digitization and the preservation of these resources, which are now housed at the Arab American National Museum. This significant project will permanently ensure the pioneering legacy of Dr. Alixa Naff, who is often referred to as “The Mother” of Arab American Studies.
