Our Teen Grantmaking Intiative seniors just graduated from High School, and we wanted to give them a shoutout! Read below for their bios.
Congratulations to our TGI senior, Kabas Yousif, who graduated from Dearborn High School. Originally from Baghdad, Iraq, Kabas is attending University of Michigan-Dearborn this Fall with plans to transfer to University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She hasn’t decided her major yet, however, she has a passion for social work, community service, and public health. Kabas enjoys being in the outdoors, reading, and meeting new people.
Congratulations to our TGI Senior, Zahraa Elghoul, who graduated from Fordson High School. Originally from Lebanon, Zahraa is headed off to the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor this Fall. Zahraa is thinking about majoring in User Experience Design, but hasn’t committed to a decision yet. Zahraa is passionate about social justice, reading, and lasagna!
Congratulations to our TGI Senior, Yumna Dagher, who graduated from Fordson High School. Originally from Dearborn, MI, Yumna will be attending the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor this Fall. She hasn’t decided her major yet, but is interested in History and English. Yumna enjoys pottery, reading, art, and fashion history.
Congratulations to our TGI Senior, Shahed Mehdi, who graduated from Edsel Ford High School. Originally from Yemen, Shahed will be attending Henry Ford College with plans to transfer to Harvard University. Shahed is majoring in Endrocriniology. She is passionate about making change in the world. Shahed enjoys art and hopes to one day start her own business.
Congratulations to our TGI Senior, Manar Zoulfikar, who graduatedfrom Fordson High School. Originally from Dearborn, MI, Manar will be attending the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor this Fall. She plans on majoring in Biopsychology, Cognition, & Neuroscience (BCN) with a minor in Mathematics in hopes of pursuing a career as a dental surgeon. Manar enjoys baking, listening to podcasts, and hanging out with friends.

Originally from Dearborn, MI, Jana will be attending the University of Michigan Dearborn in the Fall, and plans to major in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience. In her spare time, Jana enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and trying new things.
