The Dr. Adawia Alousi Fund for Muslim Women in STEM, housed at the Center for Arab American Philanthropy, honors the legacy of Baghdad-born pioneering scientist and educator Dr. Adawia Alousi, whose groundbreaking contributions to pharmacology continue to save lives worldwide. Established in 2016 with a $500,000 endowment, the Fund has awarded 174 scholarships totaling $480,000 over nine years.
For the 2025–26 academic year, we awarded 10 exceptional students a total of $50,000 in scholarships. From astrophysics to medicine to scientific research, this cohort represents a wide range of STEM disciplines. They are not only driving innovation in their fields, but also addressing inequities, advancing community well-being, and exploring meaningful intersections between STEM and other areas such as law, public health, and community care.
