The Don Buza Fund for Excellence in Pharmacy Studies was established by American Independent Pharmacy (AIP) in Dearborn, MI to honor the memory of a former colleague in the pharmacy business and to encourage young leaders to pursue a career in pharmacy. Don Buza passed away in 2018 at the age of 78, and is very fondly remembered by many of his family, friends, and business associates. To honor Don’s incredible life, the Fund will provide scholarships of up to $2,500 to students with financial needs studying pharmacy in Michigan.

About Don (Vito) Buza

Originally hailing from Ortonville, MI, Donald Edward Buza was the CEO of Sales at Global Pharmaceutical Wholesale, and a titan in the pharmacy world. He served the pharmaceutical industry for more than 40 years, and was a mentor to everyone at American Independent Pharmacy. Don’s impeccable reputation was nationally known as an independent pharmacist advocate. He built his career based on integrity, honesty, and hard work – and his positive influence on his field will be felt for years to come.

About the Fund

By all accounts, Don was a mentor to many, a source of confidence and strength to his colleagues and a man of great passion, resolve and strength. In all his dealings, he always showed the kindest and most generous heart. Through the Don Buza Fund for Excellence in Pharmacy Studies, AIP will continue Don Buza’s legacy and build a pipeline for the next generation of leading pharmacists.
