With fall well underway, we would like to take the time to highlight some of the awesome upcoming events and programs from our 2015 grantees!

If you find yourself in the East Coast, a couple of our grantees are hosting some exciting events! In Philadelphia, be sure to check out Al-Bustan’s “Music in Practice” on November 24, an Open Rehearsal with The Crossing, a professional 24-member chamber choir, and Al-Bustan’s own Takht Ensemble. The event is part of season-long series known as Words Adorned, which a multimedia project consisting of various types of art (such as poetry, music, etc.) inspired by Andalusian culture (Al-Andalusia is the Arabic term for the ancient Islamic region of Spain).

Shifting towards New York, Noor Theatre is in the midst of their 6th Annual Highlight Reading Series. Having already held 2 successful performances, Noor looks to build on this success with their next production on November 17, titled Brother Gray, a dark comedy about two Italian monks trying to solve the mysterious death of their fellow brother.

Moving to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, the Network for Arab American Professionals (NAAP) is hosting a two-week skills building workshop for women starting November 21 and ending December 6. The workshop, titled “The Strategy Point: Negotiation Tactics, Techniques and Strategies for Women”, provides early and mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to improve and grow their negotiation skills as a way to build a better negotiation strategy, build commitment, and articulate your value. For a full schedule visit the NAAP website.

In Chicago, the Iraqi Mutual Aid Society (IMAS) is holding special training sessions for refugees looking to apply for jobs online. These sessions will walk individuals through the application process in hopes of finding work at various companies, helping IMAS achieve its mission of assisting refugees to become self-sufficient as they assimilate to American culture.

We are proud to support such important and innovative work in human services provisions and promotion of arts and culture!
